Times had an interesting article today on the history of the Wizard of Oz books (I used to have a few of them as a child, I think a lot of people don't realise but L.Frank Baum actually wrote more than a dozen books set in the Oz ficverse & there had already been films before the classic Judy Garland one). Got the latest issue of SFX which had a big feature on Dr Who in the 60s plus Oz the Great and Powerful (the new film) and Sci-Fi's greatest romances (of course, Han solo and Leia made it to the top) and a little mention of the new Dr Who stamps Royal Mail are supposed to be bringing out soon. Got the new issue of Gay Times which had a little mention for that OZ prequel film that is coming out plus an A to Z of gay comics and a review of Marianne Faithfull's Broken English (they're doing a reissue of it, there's a 2 disc version on pre-order at Amazon but I'm not sure if the 2nd disc is a DVD or a CD but it's a great album ( Read more... )

Got new issue of Bitch magazine (I really wish it was more readily available in the UK). Had a couple of really good articles on what makes a gay anthem (looking at modern songs like Born This Way/Raise Your Glass/Fireworks etc) and female music supervisors in TV/film. I got the latest issue of Bizarre. I wasn't surprised that they'd managed to track down that guy in Darlington who supposedly ran a sex cult based on the Gor books (very tacky sci-fi/Conan the Barbarian style books) and did a big feature on him where it basically turned out his cult consisted of him & some teenage lad.
